About Tamara
A community leader and activist, Tamara Harder looks forward to working with the residents of Coronation Park as the next NDP candidate, and MLA after the 2011 election.
After completing her Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology at the University of Saskatchewan in 2003, Tamara moved to Regina and immediately began volunteering in a wide variety of roles in the community. Her involvement has included serving as a member of the local KidSport™ committee, chair of the volunteer recruitment committee for the 2005 Jeux du Canada Summer Games, and organizer for the Kids Help Phone fundraising walk. Tamara was a member of the North Central Community Association Executive for three years, during which time she was active on the committee that established four community gardens in the area, and also chaired the committee to update community by-laws and develop the association's policy manual.
Tamara is bilingual in English and French and is Executive Director of the Duke of Edinburgh's Award in Saskatchewan. Her current and previous roles with the Duke of Edinburgh's Award and her work as Ministerial Assistant for the Government of Saskatchewan have given Tamara a variety of experiences working collaboratively with youth, community stakeholders and government officials.
In addition to her extensive work in the community, Tamara has been heavily involved in the New Democratic Party. Her first involvement was in 2003 as election-day organizer in Wascana for the federal election. Since then, she has been a constituency president, riding president, member of Provincial Council, election-day organizer, campaign manager, Provincial Executive member, and is currently president of the Saskatchewan New Democratic Women.
